About the Founder

My name is Lillian. From a young age, I have always been passionate about the environment. In fourth grade, I read the book Chew On This by Charles Wilson and Eric Schlosser, which details the environmental and ethical flaws of the industrial meat industry. After reading this book I decided to go vegetarian, and shortly thereafter convinced my entire family to do the same.

Since fourth grade, I have devoted much of my time to learning about issues surrounding the industrial meat industry and spreading awareness. The more I learned about plant based alternatives to meat, the more I realized how expensive some of these products are and how inaccessible plant based diets are to some people and communities.

I created Plant Based Equity in order to expand the scope at which I am able to raise awareness of the flaws of the industrial meat industry, as well as the inequities of plant based diets.
